Scott Brownlee is a composer, actor, singer, and musician. He graduated from the University of Regina with a Music Education degree in 1993 and has been composing music ever since. His primary instrument from childhood is piano, but he also learned how to play all brass and percussion instruments as part of his education and his work as a music teacher.
Scott has acted in numerous stage productions in Saint John and Fredericton, including “Much Ado About Nothing” and “Macbeth” with the Loyalist City Shakespeare Company, “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged),” “Noises Off!” and “Pride and Prejudice” with the Saint John Theatre Company, and two highly successful shows at the Fundy Fringe Festival. He has also acted in several short films and features, many of which were featured at the Silver Wave Festival.
Scott's music composition credits so far include fifteen short films, animated features, and documentaries, and two feature films. His score for the short film “Distortion” earned him the Silver Wave Award for Excellence in Music Composition in 2019, and several of his scores have been featured at Canadian and international film festivals.
Outside of film scoring, Scott writes electronic and techno music, and orchestral music for large and small ensembles. His piece “First Flight” placed in the top ten in an international competition sponsored by the Northern Film Orchestra (UK) in 2023. He continues to look for new creative opportunities and outlets, and is excited to network with filmmakers and with other composers and musicians.
