Film Roles: Boom Operator, Sound Engineer, Sound Recordist
Place of Residence: Fredericton
Sam Hawkes is studying mathematics at UNB. Throughout high school he produced several short films with his friends, where he performed most of the crew roles, thus getting an appreciation for all of the work involved in the three stages of filmmaking. He has also worked on several Film Co-op member film sets in a variety of crew roles.
During the 2022-2023 school year, he was enrolled in Film 2998 & 2999 classes, which were taught by Tony Merzetti. Smaller projects gave him experience as a camera person, gaffer, editor, grip, and set designer. The second semester's final project, which involved the entire class and was shot on film, gave him experience (and a private lesson) as a sound recordist and boom operator.
