Mark Kincey

Film Roles: Camera Assistant, Director, DOP, Gaffer, Grip, Stills Photographer, Video Editor

Place of Residence: Fredericton

Bio:

I’m Mark! A photographer, cinematographer, video editor and filmmaker based in Fredericton, New Brunswick. I am currently in my fourth year majoring in Media Arts & Cultures and minoring in Political Science at the University of New Brunswick while also working at UNB Media Services. I am also from São Paulo, Brazil.

Photography has always been around for me, for as long as I can remember. Pictures from my parent's cameras, frames on the wall, going on advertising studio shoots. This exposure was crucial to who I am and it allowed me to express myself through my vision. Now, at 23, I am currently experimenting with 35mm photography and developing it on my own.

Filmmaking was introduced to me in high school, like the transformative period it is for all. This was sparked by dear and talented close friends who motivated me to make short films with them. This was an important period because it allowed me to blend my passion for photography with filmmaking, where most of the time I was always behind the camera, a cinematographer.

I have done nine short films so far, some in Brazil and some in Fredericton, with roles ranging from cinematographer, to video editor, to writing and directing. I had two short films participate in film festivals in New Brunswick. One was "How To Get Rid Of A Ghost (2023)" which was screened at the SilverWave Film Festival. The second short film is Agares (2024), a product from the NB 48hr Film Festival where we were awarded Best Cinematography and Best Film while also being nominated for six other categories.

I have more exciting projects for the future, so stay tuned.
